Hello! We are the Wang family! We are very excited to become a host family! We own a lovely, wooden two story house in Fullerton, just 1 minute walk to Sunset Lane Elementary School, 2 minutes drive to Parks Middle School, 7 minutes drive to Sunnyhills High School, and 15 minute drive to Fairmont Private Schools. We currently have four (4) bedrooms open for hosting, all of them singles, fully furnished. The house has two bathrooms that homestay friends are expected to share. We have a spacious backyard where we enjoy gardening and harvesting our own fruits, and a beautiful driveway that is decorated by our roses. We immigrated from Taiwan 11 years ago for the education of our children. We understand the hardships anyone could face starting a new life in a foreign country. But we had made it through because of the love and care of our family. Right now, both of our children have moved out for college. The house is no longer loud and full of endless energy. Although this is a peaceful life, we do miss the fun and laughter in our household. We realize how much more interesting it is to have new interactions with new guests/friends. On top of that, we believe that we can provide a great life for international students because we understand their homesickness and can provide stories of our own experience as reference. Also, because we came from an international background ourselves, we can nurture students in both American and Taiwanese cultures. We would love to host students from different nationalities and learn about their unique stories. We will treat students like our own because we want to take them in as part of our family. We have had experience with hosting students (children of relatives and friends) before. Both of our children and our host students are currently studying at University of California (Berkeley, San Diego, Irvine, and Davis, etc.) So we'd like to think that our home provides children a both fun and positive academic environment. We are a family that loves to learn about new things and make new friends. We are relatively lenient towards our children: we respect their thoughts, considerations, and plans, and don't pressure them in terms of academics but we definitely encourage improvements. When they encounter any challenges or face any dilemma, we try our best to support and guide them through. As for our lifestyles, we don't have any special diets. Alex, the father, is currently transitioning into a vegetarian diet due to his Buddhist beliefs, but the rest of the family enjoys normal diets. No one in the house has any drinking, smoking, or drug-use problems. Everyone in the house is perfectly healthy. We look forward to welcoming new members to the family!
