Welcome to our home!
My name is Nancy. I came to Canada to pursue my PhD degree in the early 1990s. As an international student, I am grateful for the warm welcomes and all the help from the people I met here. After obtaining my PhD degree, I have led a successful career in provincial government and the University of Manitoba.
I have had homestay students for over 10 years when I lived in Winnipeg Manitoba. I moved to North Vancouver last year and I really enjoy the beautiful British Columbia. My daughter is a first year student at Capilano University.
My home is within a short bus ride (20 min) to Capilano University and 3 min walking distance to the seabus (Quay) station which is connected to the Skytrains in downtown Vancouver. It takes less than 20 min from my home to get to downtown Vancouver or the downtown campus of Simon Fraser University. It is easy to travel around the city from here.
My home nests in a west coast contemporary community, with sweeping views of downtown Vancouver to the south and the stunning north shore mountains to the north. My neighbourhood is famous for excellent restaurants, fresh produce and delicacies from the market, museums, art galleries, and ample festivals! Local fine dining, live music, and access to the walking and biking trails are all just a few steps away from my home. Or you can find tranquility and stillness above the liveliness of my neighbourhood by retreating to the balcony and watching the ships and boats going by.
ALL AMENITIES: Starbucks, restaurants, trendy boutiques, cafes, grocery, liquor store, pharmacy, Lonsdale Quay Market and shopping mall, The Pier, parks and the seabus to downtown all within a few minutes walking distance.
I love hiking and cooking. I try to hike a few hours or full day in the nearby mountain trails during the weekend. If you like hiking, that would be a plus. I love to have more hiking partners.
I cook both western and Chinese food. I am used to cooking meals for 5-6 people. Now my kids are grown up and I have more food than I can eat.
