I am a recently retired public school teacher in the Bronx, I taught 6th and 7th grade English, American Literature and Social Studies. I retired last August of 2011 and I am now an administrator of an after school and youth program.
I live one block from the #5 train which takes you to the East side of Manhattan and it takes about 45 minutes. I am a person of African-American heritage. My apartment has three bedrooms but I have only one for rent. My fee is $850 a month if you wish to have a light breakfast and full dinner. If you like breakfast only and no dinner it is $750 flat. I will pick you up from the airport when you arrive. I do not have any pets in the house but you can not smoke in the house. Yyou have to smoke out doors. The address is 3410 De Reimer Ave Apt 1C Bronx, Ny 10475 USA
I also have a home in Westchester County in the City of Mount Vernon. The address is 30 Lenox Ave. It is a Lovely Spanish style house with four bedrooms. However, it is very quiet and it is more suited for a mature person. The train takes you into Grand Central Station, which is the heart of Manhattan and it takes 30 minutes.
I can offer a students many opportunities to speak and practice English and also take you to sites if you have a particular interest or study. I have many contacts in the community. I have in the pass hosted students from most of the countries in Europe, Japan, Korea and China. However for the last two years I concentrated on my retirement and did not have students in my home. I have also visited many countries in Europe. I have been to: Greece, Crete, Sicily, Italy, Turkey, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Gibraltar, Paris, England and Morocco. also most of the island in the Caribbean and Venezuela,
I would love to met new studnets and help them dispell some of their fears about the Bronx and the same time learn more about their country and culture.
