I would love to welcome you to my quintessentially English cottage on the beautiful Isle of Wight, on the South Coast of the U.K. The Isle of Wight welcomes over 2 million tourists each year. It is world famous for its music festivals and its sailing, which is patronised by the royal family. Activities and attractions are too numerous to mention and I suggest that you look on a tourist information website. We are 3 miles from both Portsmouth and Southampton and there are frequent passenger and car ferries plus a hovercraft service. It takes approximately 2 hours to get to London by train, plus we have a Greyhound bus link to London that is very cheap. There are fast links to both Heathrow and Gatwick Airport, and links to the Eurostar terminal at Paddington. Ferries for France and Spain depart from Portsmouth and there is often bargain tickets, especially out of season. On the Island itself we have buses, the stop is just 100 yards from my door. You can puchase a pass for unlimited bus travel for just £28.00. We have a quaint ex-london underground train which travels between Ryde and Shanklin. My cottage maybe 120 years old on the outside but inside it was completely modernised just 4 years ago. I have a lovely spacious bathroom, with seperate shower that you will share with just me. I have internet and Wi-fi, full gas central heating and cosy log fires in the winter. There is a lovley sandy beach that is walking distance from my house. Both Portsmouth and Southampton have language schools, Portmouth schools are easily accessable from the hovercraft, and you can buy discounted tickets for periods of one week or more. The hovercraft is right next to the bus station. All very easy-peasy. I offer breakfast and a 3 course evening meal. I will wash your clothes with mine when I am using the washing machine. If you would like a packed lunch I can supply that at £3.00 extra per day. I provide towels for home use (not for beaches) and I change sheets and towels weekly, when I will also clean your room. This is a very low rate as it is a HOSTING experience, it is not a bed and breakfast but my home. Please do not expect to given choices of evening meals, but I will try to cater for your likes and dislikes. I have two cats that are not allowed upstairs (but they try hard!) I have 3 hens, your breakfast eggs are supplied by them. In the summer I grow organic vegetables for your dinner. The Isle of Wight is fab, and if you've ever seen Miss Marple, or English villages on the T.V., then you will know what St Helens is like. Come to the Isle of Wight it is like stepping back in time, and the pace of life is slower. Contact me for IOW websites to look at
